Trio of defeats maintains gloom

In our local County League football, it was home defeat for all our three clubs in their bids to avoid relegation.

In Division 1, Worthing United, despite the renewed presence of inspirational captain Steve Pickles, delivered their worst performance all season in a 3-0 defeat by Eastbourne United Association. United had previously won twice and drawn.

In Division 2, Lancing fell 1-0 to a Warren Sweetman penalty on the hour against rivals Broadbridge Heath, the former club of Lancers' manager since January, Martin Gander. That was a second successive defeat for Lancing.
