Tin Appeal secures 1000 donations

THE OBSERVER S Tin Appeal has taken a record number of donations from generous shoppers.

More than 1000 tins were donated along with other items, such as cakes and chocolates.

Eight nominated individuals received special hampers collated from donations, alongside five local charities.

The charities are: Surviving Christmas, Age Concern, Hastings Ladies Circle charities, St Jude s Women s refuge and Turner House.

Appeal co-ordinator Mark Quinnell said: "On behalf of all the charities involved I would like to say a big thank you to all our generous readers."
