Storrington pick up mixed set of results

They trail leaders Witterings, who climbed to the top on Saturday, by just four points but have played a game more, while second-from-bottom Field Place trail Storrington by only 12 points as the top eight are separated by just 16 points.

Storrington picked up a 89-61 win away to Pagham, before they won on only one rink as they lost 72-61 away to West Tarring.

At Pagham, David Ogley skipped his rink to a 33-14 win and Peter Newman won 27-11. Paul Leatherbarrow drew 18-18, while Howard White lost 18-11.

Ogley, with Geoff Page, Gerry Newman and Ian Younger, were Storrington’s only winning rink, 21-13 against Trevor Rowe, at West Tarring. Leatherbarrow lost 15-14 to Derek Hatchard, Newman went down 20-17 to James King and Richard Pettet was beaten 24-9 by David Crockett.

As if to make amends for the previous day’s defeat, Storrington then won 58-21 against Chichester in the BML Cup. Ladies captain Pam Healy won by 25 shots on her rink, while Peter Newman’s rink were victorious by 12 shots.
