SEASON'S BEST FOR WICK?

WICK Football Club fully deserved their emphatic victory over high-flying Whitehawk at Crabtree Park on Saturday.

A hard pitch and biting wind made ball control difficult, but Wick mastered the conditions better than the visitors, who were made to look quite ordinary.

Fans who stayed away missed what may have been the best performance of the season. After a slow opening quarter the game sprang to life with a stunning goal.

From 15 yards out Chris Morrow met Marc Cooper's corner kick with an unstoppable half volley. Visiting keeper Michael Hunter could only blink as the ball flew into the roof of his net. Cooper himself scored the second, another clinical finish after a pin-point pass by Darren Annis.

Hard-working Kane Evans saw another blistering drive brilliantly pushed away by Hunter. Goals were coming more frequently than the passing trains, and the second half began with a flurry. Whitehawk now had the wind at their backs and Terry Sargeant soon reduced the deficit after a Wick defensive mix up.
