Rye through but Sidley knocked out

Rye won 2-1 in their first round qualifying tie away to Combined Counties League Division One outfit Cobham on Saturday thanks to second half goals from Matt Maclean and Danny Leach.

But Sidley lost 1-0 to Kent League Premier Division side Corinthian in a match played at Hailsham Town FC on Sunday with Gullivers still being used by Sidley Cricket Club.

Little Common moved into the top three in Division Two of the Sussex County League on the back of a 3-1 win at home to leaders Southwick.

Goals from Steve Morris and Casey Ham '“ his sixth in four games '“ put Common two-up at half time, and although Southwick pulled one back with a penalty in the first five minutes of the second half, Jared Lusted made sure of the points.

In the same division, Bexhill United chalked up a much-needed 2-1 win away to Midhurst & Easebourne.

Full reports on each of these games will appear in Friday's Observers.
