Pressure told in the 13th minute, as the Farnham backs latched onto some loose play, and raced over to score the first of their seven tries.

Horsham were holding firm, against the ferocious attack of the home team, with great defence from Charlie Clark and Wendy Shepherd, but the Farnham backs were causing problems, and a weaving run from the home team fullback lead to a second try, this one was converted and the home side lead 12-0.

The game looked to be drifting to half-time, but defensive errors, by Horsham let their opposition cross twice in the last five minutes of the half to extend their lead to 22-0 at the break.

In the second half a loose ball was gathered by the impressive Franham fullback, and a jinking run produced the fifth try of the afternoon.

At 29-0, the Horsham Ladies really stuck to their task well and prevented the now rampant hosts from increasing their advantage.

It was only in the last five minutes that the Horsham defence was breached again, with two further tries, which took the score to 39-0 at full-time.

Horsham Ladies having lost to an excellent Farnham team, valuable lessons will have been learned, and when applied will hold the team in good stead for the rest of the season.

There were some excellent individual performances, in difficult circumstances, but it’s the team that deserves credit, for the unity and commitment shown.
