Popular point-to-point fixture at Parham on Saturday

HORSE racing enthusiasts will be at Parham, near Storrington, for the first of this venue's point-to-point race meetings of the season on March 15 with a host of good local horses set to make an appearance.

Trip To The Stars, trained near Pulborough by Heather Cobb, is likely to defend her 2007 win in the Members' Race but it will be competitive, with other contenders, including Ben Bentley riding his father's Ice Cool Lad, trained in Sullington.

Ben is in his second season riding between the flags and will be hoping for a good result in front of the home crowd.

Carolyn Gorman, trainer of the 2006 national champion Cape Stormer, has a good string this season and should have two runners at the meeting, ridden by husband Marcus. Old Kilminchy has been placed twice this season and will run in the Hunt race, and Merry Vic, who won at Larkhill and Godstone, will be entered in the Confined.

Pony racing starts at 12.15pm and the first main race starts at 1.45pm
