Park celebrate cricket league title

Crowhurst Park have been crowned champions of the East Sussex Cricket League.

Long-time leaders Park clinched the Division One title for the first time since 2007 courtesy of a final day victory over relegated Battle at the weekend.

Park scored 233-5 batting first at George Meadow, Martin Barry top-scoring with 62. They then bowled their 10-man hosts out for 137 with three bowlers taking two wickets.

Park will now be eyeing a league and cup double. They will visit league runners-up Rottingdean in the semi-finals of the InterSport of Lewes Trophy on Saturday.

Iden finished seventh following a six-wicket loss at Ditchling. David White hit 96 as Iden made 182 batting first, and although they took three early wickets in the field, Ditchling got home fairly comfortably.

Rye finished sixth in Division Two after a draw at Newhaven, while Robertsbridge clinched the second promotion place from Division Three despite losing by four wickets away to third-placed Laughton.
