Oak get three penalties but still lose

DESPITE being awarded three penalties, all for handball, Mile Oak still lost to fellow promotion-chasers East Grinstead on Saturday and dropped to fifth in the table.

EG moved up to fourth, on the same number of points as Oak, and both are now four points behind new leaders, Wealden.

In a first half of few opportunities, Grinstead took the lead after 31 minutes through Dave Gellatly, who started the season at Ryman League Horsham YMCA.

Gellatly pulled another opportunity wide, Marc Pelling hit the post and Oak keeper Richard Whittington was forced into two saves, before Grinstead were left to regret their missed chances when Oak equalised on the stroke of half-time. A cross into the area hit an Grinstead hand and Paul Eaton scored from the resultant penalty for his eighth goal of the season.
