Ladies Bowls Festival starts

Play continued throughout the week and is due to culminate with the finals of the ladies' pairs, mixed pairs and singles tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Chairman Megan Traice, pictured with the mayor and mayoress Jeanette Armstrong, Rev Olivia Werrett, and fellow tournament committee members Pat Child and Marion Boswell, said: "It's been a very good tournament."

The men's competition takes centre stage at the same Richmond Road venue next week with the action getting under way on Monday and going on until the finals the following Saturday afternoon.

There will be three sessions of play each day comprising of singles, pairs and triples.
