Kannon's a surefire shot as Jim gets his century

PULBOROUGH jockey Jim Crowley notched up his 100th winner of the current Flat season at Brighton last Thursday with a good local double.

He rode two-year-old Tottie to win for his sister-in-law Amanda Perrett and made the century in the second race on board Kannon, trained at Angmering Park by William Knight.

He was unlucky not to have a treble with Benedetto, also trained by Perrett, beaten only by a head into second place.

Kannon, owned by William and Sonia Fleming of Chichester, was his first for Knight.

Almost a quarter of his winners have been for Perrett, with 12 for local trainer Peter Winkworth at Chiddingfold and the remainder for a wide variety of trainers who recognise his undoubted ability in the saddle.
