Goodwood racecourse receives prestigious award

GOODWOOD racecourse has joined the elite band of racecourses which hold the prestigious ROA Gold Standard Award. The award recognises overall excellence in the raceday experience for owners, their horses and stable staff.

Goodwood became the fifth recipient of the accolade and the presentation of a commemorative plaque was made formally to the racecourse executive last week by representatives of the ROA's Gold Standard Committee.

ROA Council member and Gold Standard Committee member, Dena Arstall, said: "Goodwood is one of the most innovative courses around and this is reflected in their hospitality to owners.

"They welcome owners as guests and are always striving to improve what is on offer.

"This has been demonstrated in our conversations about their catering, where we felt their complimentary element did not fulfil Gold Standard requirements, despite the food being of a high standard.

"This has been more than remedied with a wide selection of choice now on offer, and the introduction of the Goodwood Cream Tea, with trained staff waiting on owners in the Rolls-Royce Owners' and Trainers' Pavilion."
