She writes: With just a week to go until the biggest event of my career, the US Women’s Open, my preparation has been going well.

I’ve been very busy preparing off-course as well as on-course. There’s a lot of planning that goes into competing at such a big event and I’ve been trying to make sure every detail has been covered.

I’ve just returned from Amsterdam, where I was playing in the Deloitte Ladies’ Open. Although I wasn’t delighted with my overall result, my opening-round 71 gave me something to work with from the weekend.

Heading to America, it is very easy to get caught up in the hype that surrounds such a big tournament but I am treating it just like any other and despite lining up alongside the world’s best golfers, including Lydia Ko, Stacy Lewis and defending champion Michelle Wie, I am solely concentrating on my own game.

With regards to my golf, I’ve been working hard on getting a consistent shot, getting a little more height and squeezing out a little more distance. I’ve paid particular attention to hitting my irons closer and getting my putting on top form.

Playing 6,850 yards, the Lancaster Country Club will be a step up in distance and this is something my coach and I have given special attention to.

The course will be playing long, although I won’t really know how it’s playing until I get there and have a practice round to see how soft/hard it is.

I’ve played Goodwood a few times off the back tees to get as much preparation playing long courses as possible.
