There has been little movement at Chalky Road this summer, with just Richard Hudson and Med Koroma departing.

Hudson has moved back to former club Southwick and Koroma has gone to Shoreham.

Whittington has still yet to add to his squad but is looking to bring a few of last season’s reserve and youth team players into his playing squad.

He said: “It’s been a very quiet summer at the club so far. We are still yet to make a signing and only two have left.

“I’m looking at bringing Jack Arnold, who was reserve team player of the season last year, and Aaron Clark, from the under-18 team, into the squad for the new season.

“These two performed well at the club last year and deserve their chance.”

Oak kicked off their pre-season programme with a 3-2 defeat against Newhaven, before another loss, 4-1 to Lingfield.

Despite the defeats, Whittington was pleased with the performances and said: “Pre-season is about fitness and getting game time. I was impressed with the showing against Newhaven, who are a strong side.”
