Town, who saw off higher-division Horsham in the FA Vase first round last time out, made it two straight cup wins with victory over Hassocks.

Strikes from Danny Gainsford, Craig Knowles and Rob Clark were enough to see off higher-league opponents for a second straight game.

Town boss Alan Skipper was delighted with yet another cup success and said: “We changed our style of play a few games back, starting at Rochester in the FA Vase.

“Since then we have looked more solid and comfortable.

“I have nothing but praise for the lads.

“Their attitude, commit-ment and work rate has been excellent.

“Hopefully we can draw a big side at home in the next round now.”

Gainsford fired Town in front with just seven minutes gone.

The next goal did not come until ten minutes for time but, fortunately, it was for Skipper’s men.

Knowles got the goal to fire Town two goals ahead.

Philip Gault pulled one back to set up a nervy final five minutes.

But Clark made sure of the success with a third goal on 92 minutes.
