Three more wins is ‘minimum requirement’

Nigel Kane says three wins from Hastings United’s final eight games is the ‘minimum requirement’.

The U’s are three points and two places above the three relegation spots in Ryman Football League Division One South, albeit having played more games than the three sides immediately below them.

United manager Kane said: “We’ve got eight massive games coming up and if we can win three of them I think we’ll be okay. I’m sure four wins would definitely be enough.

“But three wins is a minimum requirement. We want to try and obtain as many points as possible and finish as high up the table as we can.”

Next up today (Saturday) is a trip to 15th-placed Carshalton Athletic, who nabbed a late 2-1 win in September’s reverse fixture.

“I think if we play as well as we did last weekend (when United drew 1-1 at home to Sittingbourne), we should get something out of the game,” added Kane. “They are beatable and we owe them one because they beat us at our place.”

Sam Cruttwell is expected to be available after injury and Alex Hause is back in the mix, but Tim Olorunda is suspended and Tom O’Connor could be out for the season with a knee problem which probably requires keyhole surgery.
