Dorking’s Twitter account says the Sussex County Football League Division One match is on with a 3pm kick-off despite all the rain of yesterday and earlier in the week.

The news will be of huge relief to a Rye side which had 12 of its previous 15 scheduled fixtures postponed. The Quarterboys have completed just half of their league programme and are still involved in two cups.

Hastings United, meanwhile, expect their Ryman Football League Division One South clash at home to Merstham to go ahead if there is no more rain thanks to the hard work of groundsman Simon Rudkins.

He wrote on Twitter: “80% of pitch playable if no more rain game will be on but showers are forecast. Pitch inspection being arranged.” Kick-off at The Pilot Field is due to be 3pm.

There is no official word yet on today’s Sussex Division Two games involving Bexhill United, Little Common and Westfield, although all of them are likely to be in major doubt. Bexhill - whose pitch was well and truly waterlogged yesterday afternoon - are holding an inspection at 9.30am.

The only ADA East Sussex Football League encounter going ahead is the Division Three meeting between Herstmonceux and Bexhill United III on the 3G pitch at Eastbourne Sports Park.
