League seeks season extension

As reported by www.worthingherald.co.uk, the league wants an extra week to get all the games completed after another weather-hit weekend caused further turmoil to the fixture list.

Football has been at a premium across the county since mid-December, with all clubs subjected to postponements owing to waterlogged pitches from all the rain.

SCFL chairman Steve Nealgrove has admitted that possible dates to reschedule postponed fixtures are running out which has meant they have been forced to follow in the footsteps of last season and ask for a week’s extension to the campaign.

He said: “The SCFL and several other leagues at step five will be making representation to the FA this week to extend the playing season. We hope that the extension will be granted, as it has been accepted in the past when they have given a week extension.”

Rye United have had 10 of their last 13 scheduled games postponed and have completed only half of their Division One programme. Little Common have played just once since Boxing Day and fellow Division Two side Westfield only once in 2014.
