EP HELD BY LOWLY REDHILL

EAST PRESTON made it five home games unbeaten on Saturday against Redhill but should have won with the amount of chances they created.

Mike Huckett, Matt Huckett, and Lee Farrell all missed openings before Redhill took the lead a minute before half-time. Justin Jones got in front of the EP defence to steer the ball home from close-range.

It took EP just seven minutes to equalise in the second half, though, as Matt Axell's pass forward found Lee Farrell who held off a challenge from a defender, before blasting home his 13th goal of the season.

Both sides then had chances to win the game, but EP went the closest when Mike Huckett smashed a half-chance against the bar. EP also had a effort from a goalmouth scramble rebound off the post, and another shot hacked off the line.

EP boss Mark Chaplin said: "Overall, it was a pretty dire game. We had a half-hour spell where we upped the tempo, and with the chances we made, we should have won. It's more a case of two points dropped than a point again.

"Mike Huckett played very well, and Chris Hibberd worked well in midfield, but there were four or five who did not play up to their expectations."

For the rest of the season, Chaplin said: "The aims are to go on a good run, and to finish in the top-six.

"We will go for a top-four finish, but definitely want to end up in the top-six."

Dan McLaughlin should be fit enough to start if required, and Chris Yelling is back available.

Then on Tuesday, EP host runaway leaders Horsham YMCA. YM defeated EP by the odd goal in seven earlier in the season.
