EP BOGGED DOWN

GOALS BY Sidlesham's Richard Davies at the beginning and end of the first half on Saturday shut East Preston out of the game when heavy going made life difficult at The Lashmar.

The game had gone ahead only after a morning pitch inspection and conditions were more conducive to those of carthorses rather than thoroughbreds, thus spoiling any real opportunity for EP to get their passing game going.

Saturday's reverse left Vic Short's side without a win in four games their last victory came in the match at Sidlesham at the start of December but they remain in fourth position, which anyone connected with the club would have accepted with relish had you offered it to them at the start of August.

It took Sidlesham just 49 seconds to get onto the scoresheet. Scott Tipper burst the inside-right channel and squared the ball to Davies who fired home with the East Preston defence backing off.
