Paul Glover’s Portslade will be a little more downbeat after they went down by 40 runs at the hands of promoted Crawley.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s derby at Steyning, Kennett said: “It’s always a tough game against Portslade.

“They have got some talented players and we know we will have our work cut out to beat them. This kicks off a difficult spell for us in the league, so to win would be a great achievement.”

Portslade captain Glover is also looking forward to the game and said: “It’s going to be tough as they are a good side and got a good result on Saturday.

“It’s a healthy rivalry. We obviously want to win but they are a good bunch off the field as well.

“We are quite close as clubs and that’s always nice to have but we’ll still be wanting to win the game and get our first win of the season.”
