Priory power through in T20 Cup

Hastings Priory surged into the next round of the Gray-Nicolls Sussex T20 Cup on Sunday.

The Sussex Cricket League Premier Division leaders saw off Division Three (East) neighbours Crowhurst Park by 98 runs at Horntye Park Sports Complex.

Priory amassed 213-3 batting first with Matt Machan hitting 53 and fellow Sussex professional Kirk Wernars 51 not out. Park managed 115-5 in reply.

Next up for Priory is a clash against Premier Division rivals East Grinstead at Eastbourne on Sunday July 10 with the winners to face Eastbourne later the same afternoon.

Division Two side Bexhill came close to pulling off an upset away to Eastbourne, eventually going down by just two runs.

Eastbourne totalled 168 batting first thanks largely to 70 from Sussex youngster Callum Jackson and Bexhill ended their reply on 166-6 with Jack Richardson 59 not out.
