Crows sitting pretty after fine win

CROWHURST Park have reclaimed top spot in Sussex Cricket Division Three (East) after seeing off fellow promotion hopefuls Ansty.

Put into bat in challenging conditions, Park totalled 162-9 thanks to a determined knock of 39 from opener Ed Smissen who shared a crucial seventh wicket stand of 63 with Colin Ayres (47).

Clive Tong (21) and skipper Paul Lindfield (20 not out) also added runs, while Sam Palser (3-28), James Nutter (2-27) and Jonathan Young (3-42) grabbed the wickets.

Ansty slumped to 13-3 in reply as Paul Brookes caused all sorts of problems with the ball.

James Wilson (37) and Jack Harvey (20) offered some resistance but Brookes, who bowled unchanged, had the final word to finish with superb figures of 6-36 off 22 overs.

Smissen (2-21), Bradley Payne (1-44) and Lindfield (1-12) helped to skittle out the visitors for 129.

Sidley’s Division Two game away to Three Bridges was abandoned due to the wet weather.
