Hornets boss Simon Colbran was impressed with his side, who he said dominated the game and but for more sharpness in front of goal would have run out far more comfortable winners.

Gary Charman gave the visitors the lead with a good header from a Ross Morely corner in the first half.

Despite carving out a number of other chances it took Horsham until midway through the second half to double their lead, striker Michael Death with a fine goal on the turn.

The hosts did pull one back with a deflected goal with less than ten minutes to go, and but for a super save from Horsham No.1 Michael Hunter five minutes from time Horley would have come away with an unlikely draw.

Colbran said: “I was very happy with the performance, we are progressing nicely and we’re where we want to be which showed last night.

“We dominated the game for probably 80 minutes, it could easily have been 8-1 so the only thing we are missing now is our finishing, but we’ve not even started working on that yet so that will come I’m sure.”

Colbran picked out Lewis Hamilton for special praise, making his Horsham debut at right back, but he was also impressed with a number of others, including the midfield three of Scott Harris, Byron Napper and Ross Morely.

Colbran has signed Michael Death on for the season as rewarded for his goals in pre-season, while Junior Gomez has also signed forms after also impressing.
