Clymping jump to second

CLYMPING Cricket Club moved up to second place in Sussex Invitation League Division 3 after their eight-wicket win at Portslade on Saturday.

Portslade had started the day in second spot but after being asked to bat first, they collapsed from 124-4 to 140 all out. For Clymping, Karl Pierce took 5-49 and Callum Britton 4-23.

Clymping then cruised home in just 28.3 overs. Gareth Challen smashed an unbeaten 70 with 12 fours and two sixes and shared an unbroken 97-run third-wicket stand with Sam Orchard, who hit 37 not out.

Clymping are now just two points behind leaders Southwick.

Also in Division 3, East Preston crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Wisborough Green. EP were bowled out for just 73 and Green reached their target in only 19 overs.

In Division 2, Arundel suffered their second loss of the season when Bognor Regis beat them by two wickets.

Arundel were dismissed for 111 with Richard James top-scoring with 34.

Bognor then got home by two wickets after a 15-run unbroken ninth-wicket stand. Left-arm spinner Neil Chitty took 4-26 for Arundel, who have dropped to third in the table.

In Division 4, Rustington lost at home to Felbridge by 55 runs after dismissing their opponents for just 141.

But, Rustington were then all out for 86, of which Martin Payne scored 55 not out.
