CLARKE TAKES OVER AS ARUNDEL CC CAPTAIN

WILL CLARKE will be Arundel Cricket Club's captain for this year, taking over from Steve Mullen who has become disillusioned with Sussex Invitation League cricket.

Arundel have also announced that their overseas player will be Australian all-rounder Matthew Hancock.

Hancock, 25, is a left-arm fast bowler and an aggressive left-handed batsman. He plays for Southern Lakes in the Newcastle League and is enjoying an excellent season.

He is looking forward to joining Arundel, who have had succesful links with other players from Newcastle '” Robert Dillon, brothers Scott and Ross Bridges, and more recently, Richard Thomson.

Hancock replaces Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Mhammud un nabi Jony, but Arundel are finding it difficult to find a wicketkeeper to replace him.

Arundel hope to recruit former Petworth opening batsman Nigel Scutt, who has missed much of the last two seasons through work commitments. While Neil Mustard is hoping to be available again, having missed all of last year through work commitments.

One man who Arundel will still be able to call on is left-arm spinner Neil Chitty, who has been the league's leading wicket-taker for the past two seasons.
