Charlotte lifts national title

CHARLOTTE ROWLEY is the National Super League 2006 junior kick-boxing champion. However, she and brother, Bill, were unable to defend two titles they won last season owing to a lack of sponsorship in the sport.

Charlotte and Bill, from Rustington, were both World and European champions in 2005 but they were unable to compete in the World Championships in Croatia this year because they could not afford to enter.

Their father, Ian, said: "Both of them also got asked to attend the USA Open, which is invite only, but we didn't have the money to go there.

"Even if we just travel to a competition in Manchester, we pay for a hotel for the night, have to pay to compete and then I have to pay to watch the competitions as well. There's no prize money to be won, just a trophy."
