Buoyant Bexhill keep on winning

Bexhill United stretched their winning run to five matches on Tuesday night.

United moved up three places to sixth in Division Three of the Sussex County Football League on the back of a 1-0 victory over second-placed Haywards Heath Town.

Mark Funnell scored the only goal of a game played at Sidley United's Gullivers ground in the 35th minute as Paul Tuppenney's charges kept back-to-back clean sheets for the first time all season.

Bexhill have now closed to within 16 points of Heath with six games in hand and five of neighbours Little Common having played two less matches.

Elsewhere, Hastings United's battle against relegation in the Premier Division of the Ryman League suffered a major setback.

Hastings were beaten 2-1 away to fellow strugglers East Thurrock United after conceding in the fifth minute of added time.

And Rye United lost 2-0 to fellow Sussex County League Division One club Selsey in the Sussex County FA RUR Charity Cup semi-finals.
