West Hill boxers also chose Rhys Verlander to become the new club captain, replacing Steve Garlick, who has done a great job over the past few years.

The club would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and looks forward to the new season starting in September when there will be a bigger stable of boxers thanks to some great talent emerging through the junior ranks.

A club spokesman said: “West Hill is definitely on the ascendancy and the next crop of boxers coming through will only add to what is already an impressive team we have here.”

Anybody who would like to have a go at the sport and get super fit at the same time is welcome to come along to West Hill’s beginner sessions every Wednesday evening. Check out the Whitefriars Road-based club’s Facebook page for further details.
