Benn's brilliant knock sees Littlehampton home

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club captain Benn Challen hit a magnificent 128 not out to help guide his side to a five-wicket win over Sidley on Saturday.

Victory had looked unlikely with Littlehampton 80-5 after 22 of their 47 overs. However, Dan Rive joined Challen at the crease and together they shared an unbroken 162-run stand with Rive finishing 64 not out.

Challen hit 10 fours and seven sixes in his innings with Rive striking five fours and one six - which brought up his half-century.

Challen and Rive were both dropped with the score in the 120s and Challen was again dropped on the boundary with the score on 156.

Earlier, Sidley had gone from 209-2 after 43 overs to finish their 53 overs on 241-8. Matt Keen took two late wickets and Challen finished with three for 62 from 22 overs.

Littlehampton's win moved them 25 points clear of now second-placed Stirlands. Chichester dropped to third after their free week and now trail Littlehampton by 35 points, although do have a game in hand.

For Sidley, opener Tyrone Wildman smashed a quickfire 86 with 12 fours and one six and Manjot Singh struck 74.
