After 80 years, hole in one is David's perfect fluke
Eighty years after first playing golf, he got his first hole in one - during a round to celebrate his 90th birthday.
What’s more, there were three other generations of his family there to see it.

Hide AdDavid, from Bosham, plays once a week at Goodwood and took a family group along for a round to mark his milestone birthday.
His feat came on the par-three eighth hole on the Downs course with a tee shot of around 150 yards.
David said: “We’re calling it the perfect fluke. I suppose there couldn’t have been a better time to get a hole in one.
“There were eight of us playing in two groups of four. I hit my tee shot and although I could see the flag, I couldn’t see the hole.

Hide Ad“But my daughter-in-law, who was up ahead, started jumping up and down and shouting “It’s gone in, it’s gone in”. I thought they were pulling my leg, but they weren’t.”
Golf at Goodwood recognised David’s achievement when general manager Stuart Gillett presented him with a bottle of champagne. He also received a letter of congratluation from the Earl of March.
“I’ve been playing golf since I was ten,” David added. “It’a my principal sport and a number of other members of my family play too. I still play nine holes a week with a friend.”
But after taking 80 years to hole his first ace, David joked he wouldn’t be holding his breath waiting for the next one...
