Your chance to become a silver surfer at the library

Older people who want to learn more about the basics of the internet and email will be able to take part in computer taster sessions in libraries this month.

Anyone aged over 50 who would like to get online but is not sure where to start is welcome to the free sessions which are being provided by East Sussex County Council's Library Service.

The computer classes will take place during the week beginning May 21 at Battle, Hastings, Hollington, Ore, Peacehaven, Polegate and Uckfield libraries.

People can telephone any of the libraries to book a session or call a central number - 01273 481538 - to find out more.

The sessions - part of the county council's celebration of Adult Learners' Week (May 19-25) - will draw on the Digital Unite website and will offer anyone, whatever their level of expertise the chance to see what the internet and email is all about.

Sessions will take about half an hour and people are welcome to stay for longer if computers are available. Staff will be available to help and encourage and people are welcome either to take part or just come along to ask questions or observe.

Find out more about all the services available in your local library by visiting the council's website at eastsussex.gov.uk/libraries.
