Young people in drive to reduce accidents

Teenagers are being targeted in a new drive to reduce serious road crashes which have plagued West Sussex in recent months.

A hard-hitting multi-media show aimed at sixth-form students is being launched by West Sussex County Council Fire and Rescue Service at the beginning of next month.

The road show, which will form part of the Service's Safe Drive Stay Alive campaign, is targeting 16-18 year olds because statistics show one-in-five newly qualified drivers will have a crash within 12 months of passing their test.

Pupils from East Grinstead's Imberhorne School and Sackville Community College have been invited to attend a pilot show being staged at the town's Chequer Meath Theatre on Wednesday, February 1.

Pupils from Bishop Luffa School, Chichester, Chichester High School for Girls, Chichester High School for Boys and Midhurst Grammar School have been invited to attend a production at the Chichester Festival Theatre on February 3.

The schools have been chosen because Mid Sussex and the Chichester area have some of the worst road traffic statistics in West Sussex:
