Worthing church to pub and back

IT may be back to pews at a Worthing town centre pub, which used to be a church.

The Church, in High Street, on the market for 900,000 '“ and selling agent Michael Jones and Co said people representing a community-style church were among those enquiring about the property.

The pub, owned by The Chapman Group, was an independent evangelical church before it was converted to licensed premises several years ago.

Steve Berrett, of Michael Jones, said he could not reveal the names of interested enquirers.

Other people were interested in using the building as a restaurant, or as an entertainments venue.

"The acoustics are very good," said Mr Berrett.

"We are very much open to suggestions and we could offer the building on a freehold basis, or lease it as two separate units."
