Thank you to everyone: who came to the Murder Mystery evening last Saturday, and to the Playden Murder Mystery Players for making it all possible. It was a great success, and raised good funds for Westfield Scout Group. The Scout Group’s next fund-raising event is the popular Duck Race on Sunday, April 10, so save the date.

Westfield Cricket Club: is holding a Quiz Evening at ‘The Plough’ at 7pm on Sunday, March 13. Everyone is welcome, and admission is £5, including light buffet.

The Friendship Club: meets from 2-3.30pm in the Parish Hall on Monday, March 14. Members play bingo and whist over a cup of tea and biscuits during the afternoon. Several outings are arranged during the year. The yearly subscription is £5, and then the cost is only 10p each meeting. New members are always welcome, so contact Jean Hobson on 01424 753095 if you would like to know more.

F3 (Friends, Fun, Fellowship): is a monthly group which welcomes all women of any age. It meets in the Parish Hall on Thursday, March 17, at 7.30pm, with a talk about the work of local charity Friary Gardeners. Admission is £2, and for details telephone Helen on 01424 752052.

The Westfield Parish Lunch Club: (which has replaced the Community Lunch Club) meets for the first time at 12.45pm on Friday, March 18 in the Parish Hall. Once again those over 50 years old, or disabled and living in Westfield Parish, will be able to enjoy a two course home cooked meal for just £3.50. The club has an excellent team of volunteers who help cook and serve lunches. The Co-ordinator is Doreen Smith (01424 751417) who will be pleased to give newcomers more details.

Westfield Youth Club: is urgently looking for people to replace the two current helpers leaving due to family commitments after six enjoyable years. Helpers need to commit to coming along twice a month from 6-8pm. There is some lifting involved (pool table etc.), but we are told that mostly you require a sense of humour and a love of chocolate! Helpers are subject to a DBS check. If the Youth Club cannot find committed volunteers then sadly it will have to close this summer. Please contact the organisers for more information at [email protected], or ring Dan 07899 917952 or Min 07952 995745.
