The Parish Church: was full on Remembrance Sunday for the Service of Remembrance followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial. It was good to see Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Beavers taking part in the service. The War Memorial looked pristine, and many thanks go to Toby for his hard work preparing it for this day which is so important to so many.

The Friendship Club: meets on Monday, November 21 at The New Inn from 2-3.30 pm. Members play bingo and whist, with a cup of tea and biscuits during the afternoon. New members are always welcome; contact Jean Hobson on 01424 753095 for more information.

Christmas starts early: for the ladies who come to F3 next Thursday, November 24 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall. The wonderful Senlac Handbell Ringers are making a return visit with a selection of music and carols, followed by seasonal refreshments. This evening promises to be a real treat, and all women are welcome. Admission is just £2.

Westfield Parish Lunch Club: meets in the Parish Hall next Friday, November 25 at 12.45pm. This is a fantastic service to the older members of the community, but it does rely on volunteer help. Do you have a spare couple of hours once a month? The lunch club still needs helpers for washing up during and after the lunch, once a month on the 4th Friday. Please get in touch with the Co-ordinator Doreen on 01424 751417 if you can offer help. You also need to book your place for lunch with her.

A plea: to all residents, not just members of Westfield Church congregation. All of us benefit from the parish churchyard and church, and even those who are not churchgoers enjoy the backdrop of Norman heritage and that stunning aspect when driving into the village. Please would you spare an hour or two to join the band of volunteers at the Churchyard Tidy-up next Saturday, 26 November from 9am-12 noon. You will need to bring gardening tools for clearing, cutting, etc., and if the weather is very wet the tidy will be postponed to the following Saturday. Organiser John will be pleased to tell you more if you ring him on 01424 751129.

Enjoy a well-earned meal: after the churchyard tidy! Westfield Church invites you to the ‘Winter Warmer’ meal in the Parish Hall next Saturday, November 26 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall. Three lovely courses for £10, so buy your tickets from the churchwardens.
