West Hill Lift to open late on Thursdays

Hastings Borough Council has made the decision to extend the funicular’s opening hours in order to encourage more people into the town for late-night shopping.

It will now continue running late every Thursday.

Councillor Trevor Webb, head of amenities at the authority, said: “Although many visitors use the West Hill Lift as a tourist attraction, it is also a very important, historic, transport link between the West Hill and the Old Town.

“We hope this will be used by both residents who live on the West Hill, and others who just want to enjoy the stunning view from the West Hill of the Old Town at night.”
