UPDATE: Police investigating two deaths in Bognor Regis appeal for information

TESTS carried out on two bodies found in a Bognor Regis flat have proved inconclusive.

Police investigations into the deaths of the man and woman who were found in basement flat in Park Road are continuing.

Emergency services were called to the Park Road home at 3.40pm on July 12 where they discovered the bodies of a 51-year-old man and a woman aged 30.

Post mortems have been completed but they have proved inconclusive. Toxicology test results are now awaited, which will take several weeks.

Detective Sergeant Chris Pipkin said: “We are keen to reassure the public that we have had no reports of persons feeling unwell or showing any effects of chemicals following this incident.

“Specialist equipment was used as a precautionary measure due to a concern that had been raised by emergency services personnel.

“No linked incidents have been reported and we are treating this as an isolated incident.”

Due to a concern there could be a presence of a chemical related to one or both of the bodies a hazardous response team from the ambulance service attended the scene on July 12.

This is normal procedure to ensure the safety of the public and emergency staff working inside the premises.

The couple’s deaths are still treated as unexplained but are not being treated as suspicious.

Police still are appealing for information about the incident and are asking people to call 101 quoting serial 1097 of 12/07.
