Unemployed pair jailed for selling heroin

A DRUG dealing couple have been jailed for selling heroin after a long police investigation.

Nicholas Pook, 48, and Kelly Briggs, 33, both of Devonshire Road, were arrested earlier this year after information from members of the public.

Pook was charged with four counts of supplying heroin and Briggs faced three charges for selling the Class A drug between April and May this year.

The unemployed pair finally appeared at Lewes Crown Court last week where they pleaded guilty to the charges – Pook was sentenced to three years behind bars while Briggs was given two years in jail for her part.

PC Duncan Cleverley of Hastings Police welcomed the sentences as part of the ongoing fight against hard drugs in 1066 Country.

He said: “Hastings Police will continue to do whatever we can to remove drugs from our streets, and deal robustly with those that try to sell them in our neighbourhoods. Illegal drugs of any kind have no place in Hastings and a custodial sentence in this case was appropriate.”

Anyone who has information about drugs beings produced or sold in Hastings and St Leonards should call Hastings Police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
