West Chiltington building wrecked by flames

A building in West Chiltington used as a store, workshop and summerhouse was severely damaged by a fire overnight.

The blaze broke out in the roof insulation broke out just after midnight today (Monday February 2).

Firefighters were called to Sinnocks, where the single storey wooden building at the rear of a house had caught fire.

Six breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used by firefighters battling the blaze.

In total, 40 per cent of the building was damaged by flames and the entirety of the building was damaged by smoke and water.

The damaged areas were cut away and damped down by fire crews, who left the scene at about 1.20am.

The fire has been ruled accidental.
