Roadworks in Eastbourne set to last another three months

Roadworks in Eastbourne are set to last another three months.

The works in Netherfield Avenue, Tidebrook Gardens, Treemaines Road, Tanbridge Road and Telscombe Road, which are being carried out by East Sussex Highways, started on May 4 and will end on August 21.

A Highways spokesperson said the pavement improvement works are only carried out on weekdays and multi-way traffic lights are in place.

The spokesman said, “We are currently carrying out improvements to the pavement in Netherfield Avenue, Tidebrook Gardens, Treemaines Road, Tanbridge Road and Telscombe Road.

“The work involves removing old, worn pavement slabs, laying down fresh asphalt and carrying out some repairs to the kerb.

“As this work mostly has to be done by hand, it does take longer than normal resurfacing of roads. The work is scheduled to last until August but could be completed sooner than that.

“The work is being carried out on weekdays only and temporary lights are in place to control traffic where the road has to be temporarily closed.”
