The Shoreham all-weather lifeboat was called out to a 9ft inflatable boat at 11.40am on Saturday.

The boat was reported to be a mile off shore between Brighton Palace Pier and Brighton Marina, an RNLI spokesperson said.

The lifeboat crew started a search in an easterly direction as the boat was drifting in strong north easterly winds and the two people on board only had a mobile phone to communicate with.

They were located and taken aboard the lifeboat along with their vessel. Both were ok and were taken back to Brighton Marina.

The lifeboat then returned to station.
