Tesco should show us respect says resident

Tesco needs to show respect to the local community according to a resident who lives near Collington Mansions.

Christopher Wyer, of Colebrook Road, has "personal issues" with Tesco Express for what he claims is a "lack of consideration".

On Tuesday morning he says a delivery van was parked across the pavement and blocking access for pedestrians.

Christopher said: "There was hardly any ample space for the residents to walk around."

He also complains of illegal parking by customers, cigarette butts piling up where Tesco Express staff members have their breaks, and litter dispersed around the store because bins are not regularly emptied.

"Basically it is making a wonderful area into a local industrial lookalike site - if you know what I mean. What I would like to do is make the community aware of the blight caused by Tesco's lack of consideration.

"Tesco needs to show respect for the local community and the local environment."

A spokesman for the supermarket chain commented: "Rest assured if 'best practice' is not being followed regarding deliveries it will be fixed."

The area manager was not aware of a specific problem with cigarette ends, but the matter could be resolved by talking with staff members, he said.

"There are litter bins around the store and staff will go out from time to time and tidy up as we need to make sure the surrounding environment is kept clean, but it is safe to say some of the rubbish will be from the high street, and it's a little unfair to say it will all come from in the store, or from customers.
