Sussex view of Booker prize winner

The front cover sleeve of The Sea, an outsider which walked away with this year's Booker Prize, has a true flavour of Sussex on its cover.

The photograph for the cover was shot from inside a house at Felpham, featuring a view over the sea.

David and Samantha Mullins, who live in Sea Place, Felpham said: "We allowed the photographer to use our bedroom window as a favour since she was a friend of our daughter, but we had no idea it would lead to a Booker prize shortlist and then go on to win."

The 50,000 prize announced last week was awarded to the Irish novelist John Banville for his 14th novel, The Sea.

Neither the literary pundits nor the bookmakers had predicted it had any chance of winning.
