Survey highlights improvements

ADUR council is improving, says a government report released today (Thursday).

The council recently underwent a comprehensive performance assessment (CPA).

The Audit Com-mission earlier this year carried out an inspection and the report on Adur has just been published.

It reveals Adur as an overall 'fair' council and one which is improving. It highlights many of Adur's good services.

The assessment said the council is good at:

Providing good quality services;

Managing residents' money;

Consulting with the community and staff;

Working well with others in partnership;

Providing facilities for young people.

What needs to be improved:

Car parks, public toilets and street furniture are not consistent in quality;

Monitoring its own progress.

Adur council says it recognises where it needs to improve and has made a start already. An improvement plan with actions and targets is being prepared and will be made public.

Adur council leader Neil Parkin said: "CPA has been an intensive pro-cess. And we have reacted to it positively. I am pleased the report accepts we are an improving council and am certain it is a positive force for change. Councillors and officers will continue to work together to provide better services to the people of Adur. I am convinced Adur residents will be able to notice the difference."
