Initially all respondents were asked ‘What do you find is the best way to keep yourself cool when the weather gets too hot?’

The most common responses were ‘open all windows and doors’ (36%), ‘use a fan or air conditioning unit’ (33%) or ‘eat ice cream and ice lollies’ (27%).

Following on from this all respondents were then asked ‘On a really hot day, roughly how many ice creams will you have to keep cool?’

The majority of respondents admitting to having ‘two or three’ (31%), with ‘just the one’ (26%) and ‘four or five’ (13%) being the most common other responses.

Two fifths of respondents admitted they replace their typical meals with lighter snacks, and a further 27 per cent admitted they don’t eat half as much, and instead focus on keeping hydrated.

Matthew Wood, Managing Director of vouchercloud.com, said:“With the recent heat wave there’s no doubt we’d have all indulged in the odd ice cream or ten! “I’m partial to a Strawberry Split myself, which I’m quite surprised didn’t make it as any of the region’s most popular choice.

“Personal preferences aside, whilst we can understand being hot and bothered increases your ice cream intake and reduces the chance of you actually making yourself something proper to eat, you still need to make sure you are taking in the correct nutrients, even if it’s something simple like a sandwich or a salad.

“Try not to survive solely on ice creams and water to keep you going – you’ll only end up feeling worse!”
