A sinkhole has appeared in one of Worthing town centre's main streets.

Police have closed part of High Street near Chatsworth Road this afternoon after the hole was discovered around 2.30pm.

Sussex Police said the Highways Agency had been called to the scene, and that the road had been closed for the safety of pedestrians and drivers.

The street forms part of the Pulse bus route which stretches from Lancing to Durrington.

The sinkhole has appeared in High Street.
