Shoreham Allstars feature in festival line-up

David O’Connell, chief executive of Original Allstars Music, said to his knowledge, it was the only festival in the south east where so many young musicians would be on the same stage as professional and ‘grown up’ bands.

The collective is co-running the main stage throughout the weekend, June 20 to 22, and the programme sees 50 young musicians from Shoreham Allstars on the bill.

Mr O’Connell said: “The Beach Dreams main stage line-up this year is the most eclectic and inclusive it’s ever been.

“There are so many young bands in Shoreham now that they will really get something out of playing the main stage at their favourite festival and it will be a great opportunity for them to show the people of Shoreham what they can do.

“The fact that they are going to be doing their thing alongside established Shoreham musicians, DJs and some seriously good up-and-coming rock bands means there really is something for everyone on the bill.”

There will be Allstars bands such as Devil’s Pie, Ripsos Rocksxz and Gravity’s Invisible Ghost Hands, alongside established bands such as 168 No Sleep and Burning Organ. Saturday’s running order, programmed by Mr O’Connell, also includes DJ sets and performances from up-and-coming bands Mok and High Tyde.

There is also the chance for two members of the public to sing on the main stage as part of the live band karaoke section.

Mr O’Connell added: “I suppose it’s a combination of the quality of the music these young bands produce and the open-mindedness of the Beach Dreams organisers that has brought the Allstars up there on the main stage.

“I think it’s great that these kids are playing the main stage at a festival that many of them will have first attended while in pushchairs!”
