To celebrate the day, the school is creating their own set of ‘Digital Rights’ which they believe could make for a better internet.

They will be thinking about how to use social media in a responsible way, making sure their comments are positive and accepting of differences.

They will be ‘tweeting’ positive comments with the hashtag #shareaheart to promote respect and kindness online.

Safer Internet Day 2016 is on Tuesday February 9 with the theme ‘Play your part for a better internet’, offering the opportunity to focus on both the creative and positive things that children and young people are doing online, as well as the role that we all play in helping to create a better internet.

Lucy Andrews, computing leader at Billingshurst Primary School said:“The internet is such a wonderful resource for learning but it is important that children stay safe.

“The children will take responsibility by making their own rules so they can use the internet safely.”
