Samaritans step out on seafront walk

Samaritans will be walking along Bognor Regis seafront to highlight their willingness to talk around the clock.

The members of the charity's Bognor Regis, Chichester and District branch will be stepping out on July 24 to raise awareness of their service.

The date has been chosen to reflect their 24/7 commitment to be available by telephone, e-mail, text or for callers at their Argyle Road branch.

They offer confidential, non-judgemental and impartial emotional support. The walk is also intended to advertise their need for new recruits. Anyone interested should talk to them during the walk or telephone 01243 826333.

The Samaritan volunteers will be in Chichester city centre on July 25 to again raise awareness of their need for more members and to raise funds.

A spokeswoman said: 'We will be very grateful for all donations as it costs about 100 a day to run our service.'
